Over 5,500 policemen for Kandy Perahera duties

The Police Department will deploy over 5,500 police officers for this year’s Esala Perahara duties in Kandy.

This group includes SSPs, SPs and ASPs. Police plan to divide the Perahara security programme into several zones.

In addition to the police officers, it was revealed in the review meeting on the organization of the Esala Perahara that the three armed forces will also be deployed for the security of the Esala Perahara.

Kandy SSP Anuruddha Bandaranayake said that the use of drone cameras when Perahara parades the streets is prohibited.
