Ovini and Uvindu set up new meet records

Ovini Chandrasekara of Bishops College Colombo established a new Putt Shot meet record at the National School Games commenced at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo yesterday.

Ovini threw 12.72 metres distance to the set up new record in the girl’s under 20 Put Shot event and she erased the previous record of 12.56 metres which was set up by Deveni Madurapperuma of Musaeus College.

Meanwhile, in the under 20 boy’s Putt Shot event Uvindu Sudharaka Wijesinghe of Rahula College set up a new meet record of 15.43 metres erasing the previous record of 15.31 metres which was set by Malinda Madushanka of St Retas College Taldeka.

Today is the second day of the National Schools Games and will continue till December 6.
