The Joint Committee of the Supplementary Medical Services Unions say they will engage in an countrywide 24 hour token strike starting from this morning 8 am to tomorrow (25).
There will be medical professionals around 700 in number from five medical sectors.Radiologists, Medical Research professionals, pharmacists, professional physiotherapists and occupational therapy professionals who will engage in the strike.
The Union said the strike has been called due to the continuous delays in introducing reforms to the recruitment procedure, delays in issuing the relevant circulars for the solutions of the problems arising from promotions, allowing the breakdown in service due to the halting of new recruits, attempts to suppress the leaders of the Professional bodies by using
The Union also stated that the Apeksha hospital, maternity and children’s hospitals and the Central Blood Bank will be in operation and will not join the strike. There will be Medical professional volunteers serving the patients. It was stated that life- saving units of the hospitals on strike, will yet be operational.
If there is any obstacle posed for such units to operate, those found to be obstructing will be removed from service, the Union added.
