Parliament adjourned for ten minutes
The House was adjourned by the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena for 10 minutes today (24) due to a tense situation.
The tense situation arose as an Opposition MP bringing torchlights into the Chamber.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Harin Fernando informed the Chamber that he had brought the torch for today’s proceedings in order to be able to use it in the lavatory in the event of a power cut. MP Fernando said, “I think the issue here is that I had three torchlights in my bag.” MP Fernando, displaying and switching on a torch, said.
