Parliament and Survey Department win Carrom titles

Parliament carrom team and Survey Department carrom team emerged men’s and women’s ‘A’ division champions respectively in the Government Services Corrom Championship concluded at the Corrom Federation headquarters recently.

The tournament was conducted by the Government Services Sports Club under five main categories for men and women. Men’s event included A, B and C categories while women’s tournament saw Open ‘A’ and novices category.

The ‘A’ division men’s champion Parliament carrom team included H.G.S. Perera, P.R. Rasika Rajapaksa, R. P. S. Lasantha, H. S. C. S. Fernando and M. G. P. K. Dharmaratne while the Open women’s champion Survey Department team comprised P. H. C. Panditharatne, D. Edirisuriya and M. L. P. Jayani.

Colombo University secured the Men’s ‘A’ division runner-up position while Inland Revenue Department team became womne’s top division runner-up.

Colombo Municipal Council team won the men’s ‘B’ division championship and Government Press secured the runner-up position.

Men’s ‘C’ division saw Parliament ‘A’ team clinching the champion title and Moratuwa University ‘B’ team won the second place.

Women’s novices event saw Railways Department bagged the champion title while the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital secured the runner-up position.

Government Services Sports Club President and Sports Science Institution Director G. L. Sajith Jayalal was the chief guest at the award ceremony.
