‘Parliament Education Centre’ programme held in Bandarawela
Another special programme in the series of public outreach programme ‘Parliament Education Centre’ was successfully held recently at Bandarawela Tamil Central College Auditorium, with the participation of members of student Parliaments from 26 Tamil medium schools in Badulla district.
The programme was organised by the Public Outreach Section of the Communication Department of the Parliament in collaboration with the National Democratic Institute (NDI).
The information regarding the Parliament which the students should be aware of as future citizens was presented to them in a simple way and all the children and teachers could be seen attending the programme with great enthusiasm.
Representing the Parliament of Sri Lanka for the program, Director (Administration) G. Tachchanarani and Public Outreach Officer P. Rudrakumar participated as resource persons to educate students on Parliamentary System and Democracy.
Director Administration of Parliament G. Thachchanrany, was honoured at this event as the first alumna to be selected to the University in the history of Bandarawela Tamil Central College. Bandarawela Tamil Central Principal K. Chandraraja, Bandarawela Zone In-Service Advisor (ISA) Devagi, Media Manager of Communication Department of Parliament Nimmi Hathiyaldeniya, Public Outreach Officer Ishara Wickramasinghe, Media Officer Maheshwaran Prasath and Saumya Ekanayake, Public Outreach Coordinator Piyasiri Amarasinghe were also present.
At the end of the programme, special gifts were presented by the Parliament of Sri Lanka to the representatives of all the invited schools.
