Parliamentary Election: Polling cards to be released on Saturday
The sealed and secured packets containing the Postal voting ballot papers for the upcoming Parliamentary Election had been issued and handed over to the Postal Department by the Election Commission yesterday (23).
Election Commission Chairman R. M. A. L. Rathnayake said that the released of official polling cards for the 2024 Parliamentary Election has been scheduled for October 26.
According to the Election Commission, 21,160 applications have been rejected out of the total number of 759,210 postal voting applications that had been submitted for this year’s Parliamentary Election. The Election Commission Chairman said that the process of accepting postal voting applications has been completed by now and accordingly, 738,050 postal voting applications have been accepted.
The Election Commission Chairman also said that there is an increase of 25,731 postal voting applications submitted by the public servants for the upcoming Parliamentary Election compared to the recently concluded Presidential Election.
