Public Security Minister Tiran Alles yesterday said an apology will not stop the Police from taking action against Pastor Jerome Fernando, who made controversial statements about religions. On Sunday Pastor Jerome Fernando had expressed an apology via a live online video over his controversial remarks.
Alles, addressing media in Colombo yesterday, questioned “ how can authorities withdraw investigations if someone has committed an offence and said sorry”.
He said the investigations against Pastor Fernando are being conducted by the CID.
Pastor Fernando following his controversial comments fled overseas, hours before courts ordered an overseas travel ban against him.
