A three-member delegation of the Vivekananda International Foundation, India, visited Colombo on the invitation of the Pathfinder Foundation.

The purpose of the visit was to foster dialogue at the Track II level, exploring ways in which bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and India could be enhanced by fast-tracking existing projects and developing new fields to diversify bilateral relations further. Potential avenues of strengthening regional integration for mutual benefit and issues affecting South Asia were reviewed.

The visiting delegation met with a cross-section of local personages, including courtesy calls on President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Foreign Minister Ali Sabry, PC, besides an interaction with the business community and a visit to the South Asia Gateway Terminal (SAGT) at the Colombo Port.

The Vivekananda International Foundation was founded in 2009 by its first Director, Shri Ajit Kumar Doval, who is India’s National Security Advisor. The Foundation is an independent, non-partisan institution that promotes quality research and in-depth studies and is a platform for dialogue and conflict resolution.

The two institutions work together based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2014.
