Pavithra supports President Ranil

Irrigation, Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi yesterday decided to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s victory at the upcoming Presidential Election.

Minister Wanniarachchi said that she will extend support to President Ranil Wickremesinghe who is contesting the upcoming Presidential Election as an independent candidate while remaining in the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. Wanniarachchi in a statement said the country has reached significant stability under the able leadership of President Ranil Wickremesinghe following an unprecedented economic crisis.

She said that the  Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna party members in Ratnapura district have informed her to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s candidature at the upcoming Presidential Election.

“I have always followed the policy of listening to the people and party members of the Ratnapura district who work with me to make crucial political decisions”, the Minister said in the statement.

“I made this political decision after a long discussion with the party members, academics, social activists, and other parties that work with me politically.

“It is a well-known fact that in 2022, our motherland became seriously unstable economically, politically, and socially.

To save the country from the instability that existed at the time, many political groups, led by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, worked to appoint Ranil Wickremesinghe as President.

“According to the trust placed by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and other political forces in Ranil Wickremesinghe, our motherland has reached significant stability.

I believe that a government leader who makes direct and realistic decisions is needed at this moment to further build our motherland, which we have all made stable with great sacrifices,”she said.
