PC arrested for stealing colleague’s ATM card, phone

The Peliyagoda Police has arrested a constable working in the Peliyagoda Traffic Division for allegedly stealing an ATM card and a mobile phone belonging to two of his fellow officers.

Investigations have revealed that this officer, who has not been with the police for even a year, is heavily addicted to the Ice drug.

The police say that he withdrew Rs. 22,000 from the card and the stolen mobile phone is worth about Rs. 38,000. Investigations have shown that the theft was to find money for the use of Ice drugs.The officer was remanded till today 15 after being produced before the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court.
