PC gets two fake Rs. 5,000 notes as rewards

The Moratuwa Police has started an investigation regarding two Rs. 5,000 notes among the monies received by a Police Intelligence Officer as monetary rewards for excelling in his duties.

A PC working in the Western Province Intelligence Bureau attached to the Mount Lavinia Police Station had received a monetary reward of Rs. 24,100 from the Police Department for 2023.

This officer had informed the relevant departments to pay this amount through the Moratuwa Police Station. Accordingly, the relevant money had been forwarded to the Moratuwa Police Station by the Payment Division of the Police and the Constable had accepted the money. Later the intelligence officer had complained to the Moratuwa Police station that two Rs. 5,000 notes among the money were found to be fake.
