PC interdicted for selling Police bus tyre to fish trader

Kurunegala ASP on Thursday (16) interdicted a Police Constable (PC) attached to the Kurunegala Police who sold a tyre of a Police bus to a fish trader. The incident had taken place on June 3, 2022.

On June 2, 2022, this officer had received two tyres, two tubes and two collars ordered from the Bingiriya Police Transport Sub-Unit for the bus bearing Number WP NA-2745 belonging to the Kurunegala Police Station.

On June 3, the Police Constable had taken the tyres and tubes

which were to be fixed to the bus, to a tyre changing station on the Kurunegala-Dambulla main road. While installing the tyres and tubes on the bus, this Constable is alleged to have sold one of the tyres to a fish lorry and fitted another tyre to the bus.

An investigation into this incident was launched on information received by the Kurunegala Deputy Inspector General of Police.
