PC who stole colleague’s ATM card interdicted

A Police Constable working at the Dalada Maligawa Police station in Kandy stole the ATM card and Rs.105,000 money from a fellow Constable’s wallet.

According to a complaint received by the Kandy Police regarding this theft, investigations were conducted and the suspected police constable who stole the bank card and money was arrested on July 26.

The stolen bank card and Rs. 75,000 from the money he has stolen were found in his possession when arrested.This Constable is a resident of Matale. The 25-year-old is a novice, a senior police official said. During questioning, the police constable said that he did this to buy a smartphone. The Kandy Assistant Superintendent of Police has taken steps to interdict the constable due to this misconduct and will be produced before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court.
