Colombo Crime Division arrested a police constable who stole money and gold rings from house in Thotalanga after going there on a drugs detection raid.
The suspect is a police officer attached to Colombo Crime Division.
A house in Thotalanga was raided by the officers of the Colombo Crime Division on May16. While checking the house, this constable had stolen Rs.16,000 in cash and two gold rings.
Following an investigation according to a complaint made by the owner of the house to the police, it has been revealed that the constable had stolen money and gold.
A senior official said that the constable had pawned the stolen gold rings and the receipt of the two rings was found in his possession. The officer said that this suspect is a person who has not been in the police service for a long time.
