All Ceylon Scout Movement Programme Commissioner W. Nawoda Chamalki Lowe was awarded the Wood Beads, the highest award a leader can receive in Scouting, by World Scout President Klaus Tegeder, recently.
This is the first Wood Beads awarded to Sri Lanka. It was awarded to Chamalki Lowe during the WFIS Workshop 2024, in Kantara, in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, on September 29. This award marks a significant achievement for the All Ceylon Scout Movement.
The All Ceylon Scout Movement is the second scouting organisation conducting scouting activities in Sri Lanka for both girl and boy scouts. This organisation, which has been quietly operating in Sri Lanka for nearly three years, gained prominence on January 17, 2024, with the blessings of the former President. It is affiliated with the World Federation of Independent Scouts, a world scouting organisation based in Germany.
Chamalki Lowe is an LLB (Hons) degree holder.
Nine other scouts and scoutmasters also participated in this workshop. Dr. W. Champika Roshan Lowe, the Founder and President of the All Ceylon Scout Movement, along with other leaders, welcomed the team at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
