Today with the fuel shortage bicycles have become a preferred transport by many with several people bringing out their bicycles from their back yards to the road. The Ministry of Transport, Cycling Federation and Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) has also launched an aggressive program with Ride for Life’ to popularize cycling among the public to use it an alternative for short trips rather than using motor vehicles and as its first step will be launching a ‘cycle parade’ on July 1, 8 a.m. from IESL headquarters Colombo 7 to Peliyagoda town.
