People’s Bank offers Scholarships to children of Prison inmates
People’s Bank under its ‘Mahajana Mehevara’ series of social responsibility projects recently offered scholarships to uplift the education of children from low income families, whose mother or father are incarcerated. People’s Bank Chairman Sujeewa Rajapakse handed over the scholarships to inmates at the ‘Prisoners’ Day’ event organised by the Sri Lanka Prisoners’ Welfare Association.
The event was graced by the presence of Minister of Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms, Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, State Minister of Justice and Prison Affairs, Anuradha Jayaratne, Commissioner General of Prisons, Thushara Upuldeniya, Prison Officials and Bank officials. People’s Bank has been extending its support since 2011 to this Social Responsibility Project organised by the Sri Lanka Prisoners’ Welfare Association.
