People’s Bank re-launches enhanced services for migrant workers
People’s Bank celebrated World Children’s Day by re-launching ‘Ethera Udana Minors’ Foreign Currency Account with new features at the bank’s Headquarters Branch on October 1.
In parallel to this, People’s Bank’s ‘Ethera Isura’ Personal Foreign Currency (PFC) account and People’s Remittance service were also relaunched.
During the event, new logos were unveiled for ‘Ethera Isura’, ‘Ethera Udana’ and People’s Remittance in addition to felicitation of 10‘EtheraUdana’ Account Holders.
People’s Bank Chairman Sujeewa Rajapakse stated, “Every year, World Children’s Day gives emphasis to the importance of empowering the children of today by providing them a sound education and creating an environment where they can be safe and happy. For the past several decades People’s Bank has continued to make every possible effort to ensure the upliftment of the children of this country.”
“The government policy also is to ensure a safe world for children in order to create a creative future generation and thereby develop the human resource and the civil society of the country. In line with that, we at People’s Bank are striving to empower the future generation of the country in every possible way rather than focusing on mere profits.”
“The ‘Ethera Udana’ Minors’ Foreign Currency Account was also introduced with the aim of supporting the educational journey of children whose parents are working abroad.”
People’s Bank Chief Executive Officer/General Manager Clive Fonseka said; “Many Sri Lankans who sweat and toil in foreign countries make that sacrifice and spend years away from their families in the hope of securing a better future for themselves and especially for their loved ones.”

Nishantha Warnasuriya, Principal of Vishaka Vidyalaya Manomi Senevirathne and People’s Bank Deputy General Manager – Overseas Customer Services Aruni Liyanagunawardana, together with corporate and executive management, bank staff members, Bank Trade Union Representatives, officials of Foreign employment Agencies, customers and Children.
