‘Performance of O/L students in foreign languages an example to all’
Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said that the result of passing foreign languages by the students of Homagama, Godagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya in the last GCE Ordinary Level Examination is an example for the country.
The Minister mentioned that the foreign language results of the last Ordinary Level Examination have proved that the country’s rural schoolchildren have an innate ability to learn any foreign language. He said that 769 students sat for the English subject out of which 768 of them passed and 452 students who passed have obtained an ‘A’ grade in English.
Also, the Minister said that 20 students sat for the French language as a subject and all of them passed and 11 students have passed with an ‘A’ grade.
The Minister further mentioned that 23 students sat for the Japanese language subject and all of them passed it, out of which 13 students have got an ‘A’ grade.
In addition, the Minister said that 60 students sat for the subject of Korean language out of which 58 of them passed the exam and 20 of them received ‘A’ grade.
He said that two students sat for the subject of Hindi language and both of them have obtained ‘A’ grade.
The Minister further mentioned that the dedication of the teachers has immensely influenced the success of the children.
Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said this at the opening of the outdoor theatre faculty of Subharathi Mahamathya Vidyalaya, Homagama, Godagama.
