Philip Pasindu does Taxila Central, Horana proud

Athlete, under 11, 12 and 14 school athletic champion, divisional, zonal and provincial champion, John Tarbet Junior and Senior Merit holder and Silver Medalist Philip Pasindu Scharnival has brought honour and fame to his alma mater Taxila Central College Horana with his deeds on the field of athletics.

Philip was born on 17 th June 2005 and admitted to Mapulugala Maha Vidyalaya in 2011. when he was in Grade 4 he participated for a team event and won in Divisional and Zonal and they lost in the Provincial and in the following year too they got the same results.

In 2016 he participated for the schools sports meet in 100, 200 and long jump and he swept the board and became the under 11 champion and taking part at the Divisional and Zonal meets he came first and became the Champion Athlete but in the Provincial meet he could not come up to expectation. Same year he took part in the Junior John Tarbet Meet and he did 100 metres 200 metres and long jump and received Merit Certificate in the under 11 age group and in the under 12 age group in the following year at the John Tarbet Meet he got Silver Medals in 100 and 200 metre events and in the next year he became the champion athlete in the divisional and zonal

Then in 2018 he was the school divisional and zonal champion and at the

provincial too he came first in his events. But in the Junior John Tarbet and Sri Lanka School Games he could not come up to expectations. His parents Philip Trevin Scharnival and Chandani Weerakoon noticing the talents of their son for athletics admitted him to Taxila Central College, Horana in 2018 and he came under Indika Wanigarathne, In the Same year at the Inter House Sports Meet he became the school under 14 champion by winning the 100 and 200 meters and long jump and Divisional and Zonal meets too he was the champion.

Then in 2019 school meet he won the 100 and 200 metres and came second in

long jump and in the divisional he won the 100 and 200 and came second in long jump and at the zonal too he repeated the same results and at the Senior John Tarbet meet he did 100, 200 and long jump and he received merit certificates for qualifying in the events and in the all island schools meet he could not gain a place.

In the mean time his school team participated in the Kalutara District Gramasewaka Open Meet in 2019 and came first in 4×100 and came second in 4×400 in the relay events and his team mates are Kavindu, Induranga, Nilaksha Indumina and Malith Himasha.

in 2017 Meet at Bandaragama he was the zonal champion and Best Athlete and in the Provincial Meet he became the Best Athlete. His Principal Mrs. K. K. M. P. Jayathilake is always supportive of him.
