The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) conducted the inauguration of the new EMBA programme on May 21, at the Institute’s “Vision” Hall. This is the 5th intake since the initiation of this unique programme in 2016.

PIM Director Dr. Senaka Kelum Gamage, in his welcome speech, emphasised the importance of this programme especially for those who hold apex positions in Sri Lanka’s corporate sector. Dr Linda Speldewinde, who was the Chief Guest at the Inauguration, spoke on the importance of gaining knowledge and contributing not only to the company where they work, but also for the country as a whole. Dr. Speldewinde, a distinguished alumni of the PIM, reminiscing her own experiences, requested the new batch to be brave in decision making, and embark on new ventures even under challenging circumstances.

Senior Management Consultant Dr Trevor Mendis, elaborated the structure and the modalities of the PIM’s EMBA. Himaja Wijenayake, Gold Medalist, EMBA 2018 batch, shared her experiences with the new Learning Partners, and provided a few tips on time management and other relevant impacting aspects.

This programme enables the Learning Partners to become competitive, competent and strategic, in order to respond to the challenges in the VUCA world. Additionally, this programme will ensure the desired transformation of the candidates and their career trajectory to become corporate leaders, and takes them to the Corporate Board Room and beyond.

The Globus Simulation course which is a compulsory elective, provides the candidates to compete with the other teams around the world as if they are managing a company online. A further specialty of this programme is its overseas study tour with corporate excursions, which adds immense value to the candidates not only from the domestic market but also from the global perspective. It will, for sure, provide the candidates with the distinctive competences to witness and experience as to how companies function on a global scale.

PIM Senior Lecturer Tharindu Ameresekere, compered the inauguration and proposed the vote of thanks.
