Podi Lasi served indictment

Arumahandi Janith Madusanka alias Podi Lasi, a notorious criminal, was indicted before Galle High Court Judge Kavindya Nanayakkara for making death threats to several high ranking officials, including the Commissioner General of Prisons, at the Boossa Prison.

While he was detained at the Boossa Prisons, for alleged offences of keeping 11 kg. and 800 gr of heroin in his possession and committing several other crimes including homicide he had allegedly threatened Prison Commissioner (Administration and Rehabilitation) Chandana Lalith Bandara,Prison Commissioner (Operations) Thusitha Indrajith Uduwara, Prison Commissioner (Intelligence) Withanage Prasad Premathilake and Assistant Prison Commissioner(Boossa) Ahangama Walawage Siridath Dhammika in their inspection visit to Boossa on 26.06.2020.

On consideration of the submissions made by the defense lawyers following the filing of the indictment, the High Court Judge released the accused Rs.50,000 cash bail and four sureties of Rs.500,000 each.

The next hearing of the case was fixed for January 31, 2023.
