Police teams investigating the death of Sujatha Munasinghe Manabharana, a Psychotherapist, at a Thalangama lodge, have received a lot of information confirming that the man who pretended to be her husband has murdered her.

A senior police officer said that he is suspected to be the person who climbed a telephone communication tower in the Colombo Town Hall area and went on a hunger strike about 10 years ago saying that he wanted to marry this psychotherapist. The police say that they are working to identify the suspect based on the information related to the incident.

During the war, this woman was engaged in counselling in Army camps and police stations to boost the morale of the war heroes. She was found murdered in a lodge in Thalangama on Monday. The police ruled that she was killed by the man, who claimed to be her husband. He had spent time with her in that room. The police also found a five-page letter written by the suspect stating that he had committed the murder. A senior Police officer said that person appeared to be mentally disturbed. Police said that the person who ran away and is hiding after the murder had even written about planning another murder and committing suicide. The Police say that investigations are being conducted with special attention to that. Investigations are underway to find out the true identity of the murdered woman as nothing confirming her identity was found in the room.
