The Police rewarded M. R. M. Thasleem, who provided vital information regarding the destruction of a Buddhist statue in Mawanella with a cash prize of Rs. 2.5 million. Thasleem is suffering from physical disabilities as he was attacked by an extremist group for providing information to the Police. The cheque was handed over to him by Public Security Minister Rear Admiral (Retired) Dr. Sarath Weerasekara. IGP Chandana Wickramaratna and Public Security Ministry Secretary Major General Jagath Alwis also participated. Thasleem’s family members were also present.
