Police seek public assistance to identify eight main suspects
The Police seek the assistance of the public to identify eight suspects believed to be directly involved in the murder of Parliamentarian Amarakeerthi Athukorale and his security officer.
The Police Media Spokesman’s Office said that so far 35 suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of the MP and his security officer and the majority of the suspects were identified through CCTV footage and arrested.
Currently, investigations are underway to arrest eight other suspects who are reported to be directly involved in the dual killings and they have been identified through analyzing the CCTV footage relevant to this incident.
The Police therefore, seeks the assistance of the public to identify these suspects and urges the public to notify the Homicide and organized crime Investigation Division Director on telephone number 011-2514217 or the Assistant Director on 071-8592868.
Parliamentarian Amarakeerthi Athukorale and his security officer was attacked and murdered in the Nittambuwa Town on May 9 during the riots that started at the Galle Face and spread across the country.
