Police Sergeant interdicted for inappropriate behaviour
The ASP of Chilaw has taken steps to interdict the Police Sergeant in charge of the Police clearance certificate issuing section at the Dankotuwa Police Station for making an inappropriate suggestion to a woman who went to the station to inquire about the delay in issuing her husband’s police clearance certificate.
The woman’s husband was slated to go abroad shortly for employment and had needed the Police Clearance Certificate related to the employment.
A senior Police officer said that during the investigation regarding an anonymous letter sent to the North West Province Special Investigation Unit, information about the conduct of this officer came to light and steps had been taken to suspend him from work.
During further investigation of this officer, it has been revealed that despite the fact that he should have acted as a key witness in a case pending in the Marawila Magistrate’s Court, the raid notes related to that case were not recorded in the Police log book for 7 months to benefit the accused.
Also, information has been revealed regarding this person presenting another person instead of a person who was in possession of illegal Goda and alcohol filtering equipment.
Police information revealed that the Sergeant has been interdicted taking all these facts into consideration.
