Police take 11-year-old Child into protective Custody after Viral Drug Video

Sri Lanka Police have launched an investigation into a video circulating on social media showing an 11-year-old child allegedly using drugs.
The Police Children and Women Bureau initiated the investigation following the circulation of the video.
Acting on the instructions of Deputy Inspector General of Police Darshika Kumari, officers led by Chief Inspector Nimali Fonseka and Inspector Kandeepan located the child at a house on Sumedha Mawatha in Ganemulla on September 18.
Police said the child, who was found in an unsafe environment, was taken into protective custody.
The child was subsequently brought to the Children and Women Bureau along with the child’s mother.
Police said further steps would be taken to ensure the child’s welfare and protection.
