Prabath Jayasuriya the leg spinner who has performed well at the domestic cricket tournaments was drafted into the Sri Lanka Test squad for the second Test against Australia which will commence tomorrow (8) at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. Jeffrey Vandersay the leg spinner of the Test squad who played his debut Test at Galle last week was ill and selectors planned to include replacement for the Vandersay. Jayasuriya got a chance at the last minute and got back to Galle last Tuesday night to join the National Test squad.
The 30-year-old leggie currently playing for SSC and took highest wickets at the recently concluded National Premier League tournament. He has already played two ODI games against South Africa in 2018 is looking to get Test debut will have to battle for the places with young Dunith Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana for tomorrow’s Test. Jayasuriya started his cricket career from Christ Church College Matale and then crossed over to Lumbini College Colombo.
