The uncapped fast bowler Pramod Madushan is likely to play in today’s fifth and final ODI game against Australia scheduled to be played at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium commencing at 2.30 pm. The 28-year-old right arm medium paceman Pramod Madushan Liyanagamage performed well at the recently concluded domestic tournaments and he took

4 for 50 in his 8.3 overs spell at the recently concluded Sri Lanka ‘A’ match against Australia ‘A’ in their unofficial ODI game at the SSC grounds.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ coach Avishka Gunawardena highly praised Madushans performance after the second ODI against Australia ‘A’. Madushan a product from Theraputtha National school Hambantota has good potential as a paceman and especially he has the ability to bowl at death overs which is more important for the ODI and T-20’s said Gunawardena who is presently at

Hambantota with the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team. Madushan presently playing at Tamil Union got chance to play at the National Super League tournament and the National Selection Committee headed by Pramodya Wickramasinghe spotted this paceman and tried him out for the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team first and then he added for the Sri Lanka ODI squad for this Australia series. If he

gets a chance to play today he could be the first cricketer to represent the National team from Theraputtha National School Hambantota. Dushmantha Chameera main strike bowler was out from the fourth ODI team due to an ankle injury and he was subjected to get another scan test yesterday.

But at this moment team management is not going to get any risk and most probably Chameera will be rested for this game to focus on the next T-20 world cup said a senior official of the SLC.

The only change that could be expected today is Pramod Madushan for leg spinner Jeffrey Vandarsay while Wanidu Hasaranga and Dickwella once again get a chance to play this game.

Sri Lankan team was scheduled to take part in a training session yesterday morning at the R. Premadasa Stadium while the Australian team was scheduled to get a training session yesterday evening. Sri Lankan team led by Dasun Shanaka is more concerned about their batting as their middle order couldn’t succeed at the fourth ODI. In the fourth ODI Sri Lanka were 205 for 5 wickets in 40 overs and they were all out for 258 in 49 overs with five wickets down adding 53 runs. The most successful two batters of the Sri Lanka team opener Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka both scored their maiden ODI centuries while Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Mednis are in top form. Skipper Dasun Shanaka and Chamika Karunartatne

two bowling all rounders have a big responsibility to score runs and that will a good advantage for the Sri Lanka team. Sri Lanka most probably open the attack with Promod Madushan and mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana while Dhananjaya, Waninidu, Dunith are the main spinners of the side. Last game man of the match Charith Asalanka said the way Sri Lanka team performed in this tournament they have a good chance to win the final game to finish the series 4-1 which is important for the next Test series which will commence from June 29th at Galle.

Meanwhile, Australia led by Aaron Finch is also looking to win this final ODI before the test series. Their plans did not work out as expected while a few players are on the injury list and this is the main reason for their defeats Australians couldn’t read the pitch and some decisions were not favouring them but a team like Australia can come back strongly said Charith Asalanka. Australia already tried out a few players from their Australia ‘A’ team Travis Head is one of the ‘A’ team players while leg spinner Matthew Kuhnemann also came from the ‘A’ team and both of them came direct from Hambantota to Kandy by Helicopter

Their experienced fast bowler Michell Starc got injured during the first T-20 at the Premadasa Stadium but he was not included for the rest of the matches and he is more focussed on the next test series. Two pacemen Pat Cummins with Josh Hazelwood are expected to get early breakthroughs.

The top-order batter Marnus Lubuschagne is not in good form as he scored 24, 18, 29, and 14 in his last four matches and Australia team has a headache with Lubuschagne at this moment.

He was the number four batter in the last games while Mitchell Marsh the number three batter was also not among the runs in this series. Two openers Finch and David Warner are in good form and Sri Lanka looking to get an early breakthrough to put more pressure at this final game.
