Pramodya to take legal action against SLC & Transformation Committee

Former Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee Chairman Pramodya Wickramasinghe says he has decided to take legal action against Sri Lanka Cricket and the Cricket Transformation Committee over the premature termination of his tenure.

Wickramasinghe said the manner in which the selection committee headed by him was removed had caused damage to his reputation and resulted in financial and professional losses.

He said a Letter of Demand had previously been sent over what he described as the arbitrary termination of his contract, but no positive response had been received.

Wickramasinghe was appointed Chairman of the five-member National Cricket Selection Committee in December 2025 for a two-year term.

The committee also included Tharanga Paranavitana, Indika de Saram, Vinothen John and Rasanjali de Alwis.

However, the committee was replaced in May 2026 following a restructuring of the national selection setup.

Wickramasinghe had raised concerns over the move at the time, formally requesting written clarification from the Sports Ministry and Sri Lanka Cricket over the termination of his tenure before the end of his contract period.

In a letter dated May 21 to Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage, Wickramasinghe said he had been verbally informed of deliberations regarding a decision to prematurely end his contract and restructure the Selection Committee.

He requested formal written notification of the decision and the administrative reasons for ending his tenure early.

Wickramasinghe has now said that, following the lack of a positive response to his subsequent Letter of Demand, he has instructed his lawyers to proceed with legal action. (Newswire)
