Prasad and Ishara clinch Ranking Table Tennis Titles
Prasad de Silva of Emjay International Pvt Ltd and Ishara Madurangi of Sri Lanka Port Authority emerged open men’s and women’s champions at the All Island Ranking Table Tennis Championship concluded Sunday at the Indoor Stadium, Bandaragama.
Prasad de Silva made a five setter game to beat Nimesh Ranchagoda of Sri Lanka Navy at the men’s open final .The first set won by Prasad 1-5 but second and third set won.by Nimesh 12-10,11-6 to take 2-1 lead .However Prasad came back strongly to win 4 th and 5 th set 11–1,11-8 to clinch the title with 3-2 lead.

In fact Prasad won last three tournament championships to display his performance continuously Meanwhile experienced former National champion Ishara Madurangi had to make five setter game at the women’s open final when she beat Chamathsara Fernando of Moratuwa University.
The first set won by Chamathsara while Ishara won the secund set 11-6 to equal the game. Chamathsara once again won third set 11-9 with a hard fight to take 2-1 lead but Ishara used her experience made two consecutive wins 11-4 ,11-6 to get 3-2 lead to win the title.
Divya Dharani of Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda won two events girls under 17 and under 19 while Rehan Senanayake of Ananda College, Colombo won the boys under 19 final defeating Vinuka Gunawardena of Royal College Colombo with 3-2 lead.
The tournament was successfully conducted by Western Province TT Association and it’s Secretary Chandana Perera who was former TTASL President and his team with the blessings of Newly appointed TTASL administration organised this three day event to give more opportunity for youngsters at this ranking tournament.Over 500 paddlers from age group under 11,13,15,17,19 boys and girls and open men and women events conducted this tournament.
At the presentation ceremony Sashini Jayaneththi, the Director, Sports and Recreation Department of Colombo Municipal Council, Colombo was the chief guest while newly elected TTASL President Rahal Abeyratne and Secretary Kumudi De Silva also participated and distributed the awards.
