
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Modi, President Dissanayake described the milestone as a reflection of the trust and confidence repeatedly placed in his leadership by the people of India.
The President noted that India had achieved significant economic and social progress during Modi’s tenure, highlighting developments in infrastructure, digital connectivity, financial inclusion, public services and economic opportunities.
He also commended India’s growing influence on the global stage and acknowledged the country’s transformation under Modi’s leadership.
President Dissanayake said Sri Lanka had benefited from working closely with India during this period and expressed appreciation for India’s continued friendship and support, particularly during challenging times faced by Sri Lanka.
Reaffirming the strong ties between the two countries, the President said he looked forward to further strengthening bilateral relations and building on the momentum achieved in recent years.
