President invited for state visit to Malaysia
President Ranil Wickremesinghe was invited for a state visit to Malaysia by the King, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.
The King’s invitation was personally conveyed by the Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during bilateral discussions on the side-lines of the UNGA in New York yesterday
They said the President had accepted the invitation and agreed to pay the state visit in January or February.
The Malaysian Prime Minister said he is interested in directing more companies to invest in Sri Lanka and also gave a positive response to the signing of a free trade agreement between the two countries.
Malaysia’s Foreign Minister is scheduled to attend the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) summit in Colombo next month, and he said he supports Sri Lanka’s efforts to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
