President meets Sinopec Group Chairman in Beijing
President Ranil Wickremesinge held discussions with Sinopec Group Chairman Ma Yongsheng and top executives of Sinopec Group in Beijing last week to discuss their ongoing projects in Sri Lanka.
Sagala Ratnayaka, Senior Advisor to President, Governor Central Bank Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe, Dinesh Weerakkody, Chairman BOI and Port City Commission and Theekshana Abeyawardana Director Presidential Secretariat and Anura Fernando, Counsel General for Sri Lanka in Shanghai participated in the discussions.
Sinopec is China’s largest petroleum refiner and oil products producer, with its refining capacity ranking the 2nd in the world. The China based Sinopec Fuel Oil Sales Company Ltd, which has become a major player in the local fuel retail market will enter the local oil refining market in October this year, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said recently.
