The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) states that the President has agreed to start repatriating the Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in India to Sri Lanka within the next year and protecting the land rights of displaced and evicted.
A group of MPs from the Northern and Eastern Provinces of the TNA discussed these matters when they met the President on Thursday(21). The TNA said that its MPs discussed at length how to find a political solution to the crisis in the North-East and that they have taken into consideration the proposals and solutions that have been presented by various parties so far. TNA Leader, MP R.Sampanthan emphasized to the President that the development of this country can never be done without finding a suitable political solution to the crisis in the North and East.
The TNA states that the discussion between the two parties was very cordial and the TNA has some confidence in the President’s pledges.
