Although several bankrupt politicians are trying to spread false propaganda through certain media that there are clashes between the President and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), there were no such clashes between us,” said SLPP General Secretary MP Sagara Kariyawasam.
He said that the SLPP is not ready to squander the privileges that the people of this country deserve by making certain demands.
“Even if the party does not get what it deserves, it will take all measures to give what it deserves to the people of the country. We will cooperate with the President at all times for this purpose,” he added.
The MP stated this while participating in the special press conference held at the SLPP headquarters in Battaramulla yesterday. This was the first press conference held after the official opening of the SLPP’s newest media centre built with state-of-the-art facilities.
“This media centre equipped with state-of-the-art facilities was completed about a year and a half ago. Although this hall was beautifully designed using new technology, it was destroyed by a group of people who did not want to accept the political opinion of others who came under the guise of struggle. Later, steps were taken to restore it once again. This is the first press conference held at this centre today,” the SLPP General Secretary said.
“There is no rift between our party and the President in the way those campaigns were conducted. As before, the party and the President are cooperating and working harmoniously for strengthen and protect democracy and economic growth in the country. Various websites and bankrupt politicians tried to highlight that there is a clash between the party and the President related to ministerial positions. Not a single word was discussed regarding the ministerial positions in any of those discussions held with the President,” Kariyawasam said.
