“Price of flour fixed to protect local farmer”
Cabinet Spokesman, Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said that there is a government policy to maintain the price of flour at a certain level to protect the local farmer.
The Minister said this while speaking at the Cabinet decision notification press conference held at the Government Information Department yesterday (25).
The Minister also mentioned that the President informed the Cabinet that if our country imports all essential food items like eggs, chicken, potatoes, onions, chillies, rice, flour, etc., and if there are no funds to pay for it, the policymakers of the government should decide how to meet those expenses in this difficult situation.

The Cabinet Spokesman emphasized that in case of any difficulty, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, if flour is not produced locally and if there is no money to import flour, a situation will arise where a loaf of bread will not be available. , the Government has a policy to protect the local producer.
