Priest who stole kovil gold arrested

Police yesterday (12) arrested a priest who stole more than 15 sovereigns of gold valued at more than Rs.2.5 million placed inside the statues of deities at two kovils.

During questioning by Police, he has confessed that he had damaged the statues with the intention of stealing the gold. He had also stolen a 10 sovereign gold coin placed under a statue.Following information revealed during the questioning of the suspect, Police has found a part of the stolen gold.
