Prisons ACG’s official residence burgled, jewellery stolen

Borella Police said that the official residence where Prisons Additional Commissioner General (ACG) and Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake, was living in had been broken into, Thursaday (2).

Borella Police said his official residence is located inside the prison premises.

Ekanayake’s wife had lodged a complaint regarding this burglary with the Borella Police. Prison information said that Chandana Ekanayake is abroad at present. Ekanayake’s wife who is a manageress at a financial institution, has told the Borella Police that when she had returned home from work, she had seen that the gold items that were in the wardrobe were missing. She had also mentioned that gold jewellery worth about Rs.550,000 had been stolen. The Borella Police said that since prison detainees had been engaged in cleaning the area where the house was located, investigations are being carried out while focusing special attention on this.
