The case filed against controversial businesswoman Thilini Priyamali for allegedly misappropriating Rs.8 million was fixed for trial on June 5 by the Colombo High Court. The case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Adithya Patabendige.

When the case was taken up before Court, the defence informed the Court that it is possible to settle the case by paying the amount. However, Counsel appearing for the aggrieved party pointed out that even though it was stated that the money had to be paid yesterday, it is not such a payment, so a date should be fixed for the trial of the case.

After considering facts, the Colombo High Court Judge fixed the case for trial on June 5 and 7 and ordered both parties to inform the court on that day if there is a settlement.

The Attorney General had filed an indictment against Businesswoman Thilini Priyamali, alleging that she obtained a vehicle from a person named Samith Anuruddha, a resident of Matara area, and misused an amount of Rs.8 million by giving a cheque from a closed account in 2013.
