Probe into Lal Kantha’s alleged threat to Kandy MC staffer

An investigation has been launched by Kandy Police Headquarters over a complaint lodged by Anura Wasgewatta, Head of the Raids Division of the Kandy Municipal Council, alleging that K. D. Lal Kantha, an executive member of the National People’s Power (NPP) has threatened him at an NPP public rally held in Kandy recently.

The complaint has been lodged by Wasgewatta based on an incident in which he allegedly tried to remove a NPP propaganda cut-out in front of the Kandy Clock Tower where NPP’s K. D. Lal Kantha has threatened him publicly over the incident at the NPP rally held in Kandy.

The Kandy Police said that they are working to get a statement from the Kandy Municipal Commissioner regarding the incident.

Wasgewatta has also submitted an audio tape to the Kandy Police stating that this threat was made on him during the campaign rally on Juy 16 in front of Kandy Central Market which was led by the leader of the NPP Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
