Properties of drug smugglers seized in Galle

In conjunction with Operation “Yukthiya” (Justice), many other properties and vehicles belonging to organized crime mafia leaders and major drug traffickers have been seized yesterday (22) in several raids carried out by the officers of the Illegal Assets or Property Investigation Division that was spearheaded by Acting Inspector General (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.These properties and vehicles have been confiscated after it was revealed to the investigating officers that they have been purchased using the money earned from extremely subtle drug smuggling carried out while living abroad.

The designated confiscated vehicles and properties had one multi-day trawler of 45 feet, one KDH van, one Toyota CHR type jeep, one Wagon R type car, a three storey building at Hikkaduwa, one Villa with four floors near the Hikkaduwa Mahamodara Bridge, one Villa with three floors near the Hikkaduwa Mahamodara Bridge and 30 pounds of sovereign gold.

It has been revealed that the total market value of the seized vehicles and properties is close to 1,340 lakhs.
