Protesting monks remain at Viharamahadevi Park chanting pirith amid rains

Members of the Maha Sangha and supporters demanding the release of Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera continues to remain at Viharamahadevi Park, observing pirith chanting despite heavy evening rains in Colombo.

The group relocated to the park grounds following court restrictions barring demonstrations directly in front of the Presidential Secretariat premises. Representatives who engaged in discussions at the Ministry of Buddhasasana reiterated their decision to remain stationed at Viharamahadevi Park, taking shelter under trees and temporary covers while continuing their chanting until a clear resolution regarding Gnanasara Thera’s release is provided.
