SLPP MP Dulles Alahapperuma in a letter to the President has urged to provide relief to Government Sector and Semi-Government Sector Servants who had submitted nominations to contest at the Local Government Election. In the letter he stressed that they are on no-pay leave and as such they should be provided with some redress, as polls have been postponed. Alahapperuma suggested that they should be also should be given some relief for the credit facilities they have taken and steps should be taken to stop payment of their credit installments temporarily.
He said more than 3,000 Government Sector and Semi-Government Sector Servants who had submitted nominations to contest at the Local Government Election are in a quandary due to the uncertainty over the LG polls.
