Punchihewa heads Taekwondo Federation

Chaminda Punchihewa and Ruwan Alahakoon were elected President and Secretary respectively at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Federation held at River Reach Hotel in Waikkal last week.

All positions except for the assistant secretary, were elected uncontested at this election, which was observed by a three-member Election Committee headed by former Sports Ministry Secretary S. Wirithamulla and two members Retired Navy Commodore H. U. Silva and former Sports Director Palitha Jayathilleka.

Meanwhile, former Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Chairman Kanchana Jayaratne and ASP Prasad Subasinghe were elected as Vice-Presidents while C. P. Fernando and H. Karunaratne was elected Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer respectively.

Deepika Wehigaldeniya won the contest as the Assistant Secretary with a total of 22 votes.

A total of 32 affiliated clubs were eligible to cast their votes but only 22 were present at this election.

Vice-President’s: Kanchana Jayaratne and Prasad Subasinghe.

Assistant Secretary:

Deepika Wehigaldeniya.

Treasurer: C. P. Fernando.

Assistant Treasurer: H. Karunaratne.
