According to the Disaster Management Center, 67,591 people in 17,078 families in 114 Divisional Secretariats of 15 Districts have been affected by the bad weather conditions since last 15 days (21) at around 6pm. Due to the disaster situation one person was killed and 11 injured with two total house damages and 502 partial house damages.

The number of families in the relative houses is 25 and 72 people. There are 122 people in 27 families in three shelters. These personnel belong to Ratnapura, Colombo, Kegalle, Anuradhapura, Kandy, Galle, Kalutara, Jaffna, Puttalam, Gampaha, Hambantota, Badulla, Matara,

Kurunegala, Polonnaruwa districts.52 people from nine families were affected due to flash flooding in Thimibirigasaya in Colombo, Director of Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili said.

As of yesterday (21) afternoon, the sluice gates were opened in Rajanganaya, Tissa Wewa, Angamuwa, Kala Wewa, Deduru Oya, Tabbowa and Kukule Ganga reservoirs.

Water levels in rivers have risen. Meanwhile, the water level of Attanagalu-Oya has risen significantly. The telephone number 117 can inform about emergency situations. The director added that boats and equipment needed to save people from disaster situations have been placed in the required places. Due to the ongoing rain, the National Building Research Organization has issued the second phase of landslide warning for Seethawaka, Matugama, Bulathsinhala, Kuruvita, Kalawana, Ayagama, Ratnapura, Alapatha, Kiriella, Aheliyagoda Divisional Secretariat Divisions. Also, the first phase of landslide alert has been issued for forty local secretariat divisions in Badulla, Colombo, Galle, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala and Ratnapura districts.This is valid till 4pm today (22).

The Irrigation Department has issued flood warning notices for the Kuda Ganga sub-basin of the Kalu Ganga and the Atthanagalu Oya basin.

Accordingly, there is a risk of flooding in certain areas of the Kuda Ganga and Magura Ganga overflow areas in Bulathsinghala, Madurawala, Palinda Kandy Divisional Secretariat Divisions, and in some areas of Attanagalu Oya Uruwal Oya valleys in Divulapitiya, Mirigama, Atthanagalla, Mahara Gampaha, Minuwangoda, Jaela, Katana, Wattala Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
