Ramesh urges health sector staff to be more dedicated to serving people

According to Health Minister Ramesh Pathirana, about 600 complaints are received every year regarding medical negligence in hospitals, by health staff including doctors.

He said that the number of complaints remains at the same level this year as well as last year and the problem arises as to whether the health sector doing its best for the patients.

The Minister stated this at a ceremony held yesterday (29) at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital.

He also emphasized that many mistakes had been identified during the analysis of the complaints made by the patients. The Minister said that it is no secret that hospital staff including doctors play a huge role in providing treatment to patients and it is clear from the accusations made by the people that more dedication is needed from the health staff.
