The gripping competition took place at the lavish Radisson Blu Hotel and Resort, located along the scenic Abu Dhabi Corniche in the United Arab Emirates, spanning from August 16 to 24.

Liyanage, renowned for his calculated moves and deep understanding of the game, navigated through a series of challenging battles that tested his mettle. Engaging in a total of ten matches, he engaged in five intense encounters against Grand Masters, securing an impressive three points. His strategic prowess also shone through in his matches against International

Masters, where he gathered an additional three points.

What sets Liyanage’s victory apart is his flawless record throughout the grueling nine-day event. Commencing the tournament at a ranking of 106, he climbed the ranks with each calculated move and daring maneuver.
