RDA will not be privatised – Minister Dr. Gunawardhana
Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana emphasized that the Road Development Authority will not be privatised. He said that employees will not be downsized.
The Minister expressed these views addressing a meeting of the trade unions of the Road Development Authority held at the Transport and Highways Ministry Auditorium. The Minister said that Expressways have been handed over to Sahasya, a company under the Finance Ministry with Cabinet approval and gazetted accordingly. He also said that this has been done with the aim of increasing the assets on the balance sheet and stated that it is not privatization.
The Minister handed over a book on the economic crisis written by himself to the trade union leaders. Road Development Authority Chairman Chaminda Athaluwage, Road Development Authority Director General L.V.S. Weerakoon and trade union representatives participated in the meeting.
